Pontiac G6 on Recall

2006 Pontiac G6

U.S. safety regulators are looking to expanding a small recall of Pontiac G6.These Pontiacs are midsize cars and the recall includes up to 550,000 vehicles. In 2009, about 8,000 of these cars were recall. This recall was placed due to problems with the brake lights and because the cruise control on the vehicles were not working properly.

The 2009 recall only involved the cars that were made in January of 2009. Today, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration made a post on their website. Their post explained that all G-6’s that were manufactured between the year 2005 and 2009 model years should be added to the recall.

The safety agency says it has received 212 complaints from consumers that brake lights won’t come on. This is when the pedal is pressed. The lights also may come on for no reason. Some of the complaints also say the cruise control disengages for no reason, or it may not work at all.

GM is currently trying to get to the bottom of the investigation. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or accidents involving the recall.

In the 2009 recall, GM traced the problem to corrosion in a wiring connector. Dealers were to fix it by putting a lubricant on the connector to prevent corrosion.

Although the Chevrolet Malibu and Saturn Aura share many components with the G6, they are not included in the probe, GM spokesman Alan Adler said.

If you or a loved one have been in an accident due to a recalled product, it is necessary to seek legal assistance. These types of accidents can cause expensive injuries and can involve vehicle replacements. It is not your job to pay for these expenses. Grandma

Kathryn “Kitty” O’Farrell was 79 years old. She was hit and killed by a by a car as she was attending a vigil. The vigil she was participating in was because of a death in a car accident also.

Her Neighbors claimed that O’Farrell help get a stop light installed less than a block away for the location of the accident.  Her goal was to slow traffic on El Camino Avenue and Castro. Her daughter, Kelly DeLeon, explained that mother was a vibrant woman. She was very well known and had many friends. DeLeon said she was at the scene of a fatal accident the day before and helped the injured driver who police say was driving while drunk.  She crossed the street during the evening vigil put on by the friends and family of Demaris Ingram who was killed in the accident.

“It tugged at her heart so when she saw them and came to give them flowers,” said DeLeon.

She apparently couldn’t make it across the street because there were too many people.  Neighbors say they tried to get a motorist to slow down but O’Farrell was struck and killed instantly.  The street was also dark because copper thieves had rendered street lights useless.

“My mind was in shock, she was so nice. She always helped people in the neighborhood,” said Anna Cervantes who has lived across from O’Farrell for 35 years.

O’Farrell’s daughter says she had just found out that her kids were paying for a trip to Ireland, and was also celebrating her 43rd anniversary of being together with her long time boyfriend.

Unfortunately, these types of accidents happen all the time. If you or a loved one have been involved in an accident like this it is necessary to seek legal counsel. For more information visit a Personal Injury Attorney.

As surprising as it may be, Los Angeles is leading the nation in hit-and-run vehicle collisions. As tragic as this may be, there are two Los Angeles City Council members are trying to change this. Both are vowing to do something about it and looking to find justice.

Los Angeles accidents are at an all time high. After one is involved in an accident with pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycles or other vehicles, as many as 20,000 Los Angeles vehicle motorists flee the scene each year.  Councilman Joe Buscaino made this claims in a press conference before the government body’s public safety committee.

Joe Buscaino is the Harbor area councilman and claims that about 4,000 of the people involved in these types of collisions are injured or killed. In his motion, filed Jan. 4, Buscaino is currently asking the Los Angeles Police Department to detail its efforts on trying to cut down on hit-and-run incidents.

Councilman Mitchell Englander is currently the chairman of the public safety committee. He explains that he is working on a strategy to change statistics and keep these people from running away after an accident.”We have to toughen our laws,” said Englander, who is urging mandatory impounds of vehicles owned by hit and run drivers.

Whereas about 11% of collisions nationwide involve a driver who does not stop after a collision, in Los Angeles the driver fails to stop in 48% of reported incidents.

Hit and Run accidents happen too many times in Los Angeles.  If you or a loved one has been involved in an accident and the person at fault has run, it is necessary to seek legal help.  These types of accidents can end in horrible injuries and even death. Isabella Foods is located in an El Paso, Texas establishment. They are currently recalling approximately 685 pounds of tamale products. The reason for the recall is because of misbranding and undeclared allergens. The product currently contains wheat or soy. The problem is that these known allergens are not mentioned on the product label.

The following products are going to be recalled: 36-oz. packages containing 12 “Isabella Foods of El Paso Green Chicken Tamales” and bearing the establishment number “P-13389″ inside the USDA mark of inspection and 36-oz. packages containing 12 “Isabella Foods of El Paso Red Pork Tamales” and bearing the establishment number “EST. 1960″ inside the USDA mark of inspection.

These specific products were produced through Jan. 18, 2013.  They were distributed and sold at local markets and retail stores in the El Paso, Texas area.  The problem was found by the FSIS in-plant personnel. They found the problem during a label review. The FSIS inspector found soy in the textured vegetable protein ingredient. During the same review, the FSIS inspector found that wheat was a subcomponent of the masa flour ingredient. This ingredient was found in the red pork tamale product but not declared on the label. FSIS and the company have received no reports of physical harm due to consumption of these products. The FSIS has advised who is concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and to ensure that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. Consumers and members of the media with questions about the recall should contact the company’s Owner, Nielson Guerra, at (915) 590-1899.

First Toyota, Now General Motors

It has been a year of recalls in the automobile industry. First Toyota and now General Motors Co is recalling 13,680 cars globally. The reason for the recall is to address potential problems with improperly tightened suspension bolts.  Other problems include faulty airbags, according to the company. The U.S. safety regulators have also filed documents involving this recall. The issues have not resulted in any physical accidents or injuries, according to General Motors.

GM is recalling 8,519 2013 model year Chevrolet Malibu sedans in the United States. This is for problems involving the suspension. The problem is that one or more rear suspension bolts may not have been tightened properly. As you can imagine, this could lead to a driver losing control of the vehicle. This would increase the risk of a unnecessary car accident, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

General Motors is recalling another 1,060 of the cars in various other countries, which include Canada, Mexico and overseas, General Motors said. Owners should look for obnoxious noises and minor handling issues in vehicle, NHTSA claimed. General Motors has just begun to inform the vehicle owners.

General Motors also is recalling 3,896 2012 model year Buick Verano, and Chevy Camaro, Cruze and Sonic cars in the United States. But, this is for a different problem. This recall is being administered to address potentially faulty airbags, according to the NHTSA. An additional 205 cars were affected by the recall in Canada, General Motors said.

The driver side front airbag has a shorting bar that may intermittently contact the airbag terminals. This is a problem because there is a possibility that this will cause the airbags not to deploy. This will increase the risk of injuries, according to the NHTSA. The recall is expected to begin on February 13 of this year. General Motors is claiming that this recall is an expansion of one from last fall.

If you or a loved one have been in an accident due to a faulty product it is necessary to seek legal advice. It is the manufacturer’s responsibility to compensate the pain and suffering that you have suffered. An Accident Attorney will make sure that you receive every cent that you deserve.

This past Wednesday, the star was charged with the misdemeanor by the L.A. County District Attorney, according to TMZ.

If she is convicted for these charges, Harris could face up to six months in jail. The 65 year-old victim made the report at the time of the accident. The other driver is claiming that Harris drove off after hitting her car on October 1st. According to the incident report, the accident occurred at approximately 10 pm  But Harris’s representatives have said that the Grammy-award winning star had not realized that she actually made contact with the other person’s vehicle.

“It is a garden-variety accident that happens every day on the 405,” her rep told TMZ. According to the TMZ website, Harris’s lawyer entered a ‘not guilty’ plea on the singer’s behalf. The plea was entered this past Wednesday.

Faulty Airbags on Toyotas

Toyota FJ Cruiser

Toyota FJ Cruiser (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

A Toyota distributor is recalling 3,235 cars in select states. According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the specific reason for these recalls is airbag sensors that may malfunction.
Southeast Toyota Distributors of Deerfield Beach, Fla., one of several regional distributors that import and prep Toyotas, may not have calibrated the airbag weight sensors. These problems can be found in the front passenger seats of certain 2009-2013 Toyota models. Fortunately only models sold in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia are affected. Specifically it is only those equipped with seat covers, seat heaters or headrest-mounted LCD screens. No Lexus or Scion models are affected.

The problem is that in an accident, the passenger-side airbag may deploy improperly. The weight sensors determine whether to deploy the airbag if it detects the seat is empty or if a small child is sitting up front. Toyota, is not issuing this specific recall. This is because the distributor is responsible for installing factory accessories. These can include products such as rear DVD entertainment systems, on these vehicles. The distributor said the problem was limited to two employees. Unfortunately the employees were not using the required calibration tools.

The vehicles are as follows: 2009-2012 Tacoma, 4Runner, Camry, Camry Hybrid, Prius and RAV4, 2009-2010 Avalon, FJ Cruiser and Highlander,  Hybrid 2010-2013 Corolla, Sienna and Tundra, 2009-2013 Highlander and Venza, 2012 Prius V, 2010-2012 Sequoia

The Dealers will be inspecting and recalibrating these airbag sensors at the beginning of this month. Southeast Toyota Distributors can be reached at 1-954-429-2000, or Toyota can be reached at 1-800-331-4331.

If you or a loved one have been personally injured due to a faulty product such as an airbag, it is necessary to seek legal counsel. These products can cause serious accidents and even death. Truck Accident Leaves Driver Serious

Truck Accident Leaves Driver Serious (Photo credit: ER24 EMS (Pty) Ltd.)

Drivers and passengers were involved in a nineteen-vehicle pileup near Agua Dulce, California. Tuesday morning a big-rig truck towing two trailers collided with multiple vehicles. The drivers and passengers said they felt fortunate the massive crash looked worse than it actually was.

Michael Schwartz is a painter and he was traveling with three passengers when his truck was rear-ended. He says, “I would’ve thought when I got out of the car and looked at cars piled on top of each other that there would have been some fatalities or some very serious injuries, and, thank God, there wasn’t,” said Michael Schwartz, a painter who was travelling with three colleagues when his truck was slammed from behind.

Schwartz said he was stopped on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway. He was surprised when he heard squealing breaks and felt a “tremendous impact” followed by three other successive impacts. The crash occurred south of the Escondido Canyon Road exit in the Agua Dulce area. The occurred about 1 mile east of Vasquez Rocks County park.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, fifteen individuals were injured and taken to the hospital. Two additional patients were treated at the scene and released. Fortunately the CHP officials claim that those injured in the accident are expected to make a full recovery. The crash occurred at 9:42 a.m. The roadway was eventually opened at 2 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol’s traffic website stated that 25 tons of sand were involved in the accident. This caused the passengers to be trapped in their vehicles. Photos from the scene showed at least nine cars piled on top of each other.  The vehicles suffered severe damages. Officials on scene said that the big rig was going too fast while traveling around a curve. The truck was not far behind a CHP officers patrol car, which was swerving back and forth in order to slow traffic to create a break so that debris could be cleared from the roadway.
