A suspected gang member was shot Monday after a minor car crash. Rival gang members in Los Angeles shot the victim in the thigh. Authorities say the incident may have been related to a gang shooting.

The victim, who hasn’t been identified by authorities, was involved in a minor car accident before being shot. The accident occurred at 49th St. and Vermont Ave, said Sgt. Steve Vera of LAPD’s 77th Division.

After the minor car crash, the victim got out of his car and was then posted by rival gang members. They then opened fire, Vera said.

Authorities don’t know how many shots were fired or how many gunman were involved, Vera added. There were no other victims involved in the incident.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with stable vital signs.

The car crash and gang shooting are still under investigation said officials. Authorities haven’t released a description of the victim or suspects involved in the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department.

Around 8:24 p.m. Thursday, an unidentified man was reported to be running in and out of traffic smashing a metal weapon on car windows, according to one driver.

“[I thought], ‘Oh my God, get me out of here.’ It was a scary feeling,” Priscilla Garcia told CBS LA of the moment she says the man came upon her car.

“When he did that, I looked at the cops to do something because he was not going to stop,” she said.

The man ignored orders once deputies arrived on the scene, continued his attack in the intersection of Shangri-La Drive and Soledad Canyon Road in Canyon County.

Police then opened fire on the man, shooting him multiple times in the chest after he charged at them with a knife. According to a press release, the man “appeared unscathed by the shooting,” and “continued his erratic behavior.”

The deputies then stepped back toward their squad cars when the man, now wielding a second weapon of a knife, charged at them again.

“The suspect was struck by gunfire multiple times on the upper torso,” according to officials.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said no one else was harmed during the incident.

A high-speed pursuit involving a silver Chevrolet Corvette ended violently Friday when the Corvette collided with another car that ran a red light.

After the crash, the Corvette driver attempted to flee, but LAPD officers who arrived on the scene shot him. It is unclear at this time if non-lethal rounds or bullets were used to subdue the suspect.

The pursuit started around 9:30 p.m. in East Los Angeles. Deputies attempted to stop the driver for alleged reckless driving.

The pursuit went through numerous Los Angeles communities including East Los Angeles, and Bell and Huntington Park. The pursuit ended 60 minutes later at the intersection of Los Angeles Street and Olympic Boulevard when it collided with the other car.

The driver of the Corvette was described to be in his 40s, but that was all the information the police have released so far. An ambulance took the suspect away and the extent of his injuries is currently unknown.

The pursuit involved patrol vehicles from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol vehicles before the LAPD became involved and took over.

The condition of the other driver and unknown passengers of the other car involved is still unknown.
