Bicyclist Crashes into Stopped Car
San Rafael, CA – A bicyclist was hospitalized with major injuries from crashing into a stopped vehicle Sunday afternoon.

A 56-year old female pulled her vehicle over to the side of the road after experiencing mechanical troubles at round 12:30 p.m. Her vehicle, a Volvo station wagon was blocking a section of the bike lane on Lucas Valley near Huckleberry Road.
Upon arriving to the area, a pack of bicyclists moving at speeds upwards of 20 mph signaled each other as to avoid the obstruction on their path. One bicyclist riding faster the pack did not get the signal and crashed into the back of the vehicle.
The bicyclist was transported to Marin General Hospital in serious condition. His injuries, which are not considered life-threatening, happened to the upper half of his body and face. His clavicle and jaw were broken, he lost teeth and had a large cut on his chest.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters arrived to the scene which they described as having a significant amount of blood.
