Fresno, CA – Three people are killed in a collision that happened between a big rig and a car Wednesday morning.

A man thirty-seven-years-old was the driver of 1991 Ford Escort that was heading east on Highway 180 with a forty-five-year-old woman was as his sole passenger. They were near Mendota at about 2:30 a.m. when a crash claimed their lives. Their vehicle swerved onto the westbound lane and collided head-on with a semi-truck.
A forty-nine-year-old woman, the driver of the big rig, died on the scene. Her only passenger, a fifty-year-old man who was sleeping in a compartment of the truck was ejected when the two vehicles collided. He suffered major injuries and was transported to Community Regional Medical Center.
The crash ignited and spilled a large amount of diesel on the on the highway. California Highway Patrol closed the highway in both directions for several hours.
